Maltese Bichon

Originally from Greece, Rome and Egypt, it is named after the Semitic word "màlat" meaning refuge or port. It has Mediterranean roots and was bred to keep ports free of mice and small animals. It looks like a plush ball, due to its resemblance to a cotton ball, and became popular in the 19th century as a pet for the bourgeois class.

It is pleasant, intelligent, and very affectionate. It loves games and cuddles. Don't be too rough: it likes softness and delicacy. It loves being the center of attention, always being doted on, enjoys traveling and discovering new places, and dislikes being left alone.
