Dog beaches in Murcia and Andalusia

COVID-19 UPDATE:

Due to the exceptional situation caused by Covid-19, many of the dog beaches listed in this blog may not be operational this summer 2020 due to capacity modifications.

For greater certainty, we recommend that you contact the local Tourist Office before visiting their beaches.

We continue to break down the number of Spanish beaches where you can enjoy the sun and sea with your dog, and since not all beaches are suitable for this, we provide you with the updated list for 2020, now including dog beaches in Murcia and dog beaches in Andalusia.

Dog beaches in Murcia:

- Playa de Las Moreras, Mazarrón.

A small natural beach made of golden sand and small stones, great for a good swim and playing with the waves and your dog.

- Playa del Gachero, Mazarrón.

An urban and small beach, made of stones and sand. It is located next to the city port and is not frequently visited by bathers.

- Playa de Covaticas (Mazarrón)

Located between Bolnuevo and Percheles, Covaticas beach is the largest of all. Almost 1 kilometer of sand with pebbles and gravel.

- Playa de la Cañada del Negro (Águilas)

The last beach enabled in 2017 in Murcia. The beach is made up of rocks, and out of its 150 meters in length, there is a small area with coarse sand for swimming.

- Playa Larga (Lorca)

This dog beach was the latest addition to the list in 2018. With 600 meters in length and 7 meters in width, it is composed of gravel and sand. There aren't many bathers, making it ideal for visiting with our dogs.

Dog beaches in Andalusia:

- Playa de la Rana, Adra, Almería

It was recently inaugurated as a dog beach in the summer of 2016. It is a small cove not suitable for human swimming. It has no sand; it is made of pebbles.

- Playa del Cable, Motril, Granada

It is a small beach next to the city port. Made of sand and small stones.

- Playa de Arroyo Totalán, Málaga

Next to Rincón de la Victoria, right at the mouth of the Totalán River, is this beach, 600 meters long and about 30 meters wide, spectacular for your dog to run on the beach and enjoy the waves. Stones, gravel, and dark sand.

- Playa del Castillo Sohail, Fuengirola, Málaga

The best dog beach in Málaga, very extensive, always with many visitors so your dog can make friends, it has a great beach bar to relax with your dog. It has more than 2000 square meters for dogs and their humans to enjoy.

- Playa canina de Torre del Mar, Málaga

Considered the best dog beach in Spain: it is open all year round and has a play area for your dog to play with their furry friends. Open for a couple of years, it has been very well received by users, with many bins and bags for dog waste. It has a wide expanse of fine sand. It also has a beach bar that now allows dogs. It was a bit strange that the only beach bar on the dog beach did not allow owners with their dogs.

- Playa de Benalcan, in Benalmádena, available since June 2019, is a beach made of rocks and sand in the south of the town.

- Playa de Camposoto, Cádiz

A large fine sand beach where dogs can walk freely and play both in the sand and in the water.

As always, we remind you of the basic rules for being a responsible owner, regulations for taking your dog to the beach:

    • control your dog at all times
    • carry a water bottle to keep your dog hydrated
    • try not to disturb other users
    • pick up all your dog's waste
    • keep vaccinations up to date and carry the health record
    • if your dog is included in the list of potentially dangerous dog breeds, you must keep it leashed and muzzled

As you can see, the selection of dog beaches for 2020 in Spain is very extensive. We hope all users will take care of them so that more and more municipalities grant us more spaces and more beaches to go to with dogs.
