• If you have a house with stairs, put a small gate so he doesn't go up and down continuously, or if he's going to be alone for a long time, buy a small ramp so he can get onto the sofas; they are so stubborn that they will end up climbing one way or another.

• A harness is better than a collar, especially when they are puppies, and if they pull, as collars are bad for their neck and vertebrae.

• Dachshund dogs are very sensitive to cold; in winter, protect their body from sudden changes in temperature and rain with a sweater, coat or raincoat

 

How to train your dachshund dog, simple tricks

Do it in short sessions, of between 3 and 5 minutes maximum, but frequently. About two or three times a day, to reinforce what has been learned.

Reward good behavior: if he has done something well, reward him but always in moderation.

Conversely, if he misbehaves or ignores you, ignore him until he stops jumping to get your attention.

Before going out, wait for him to calm down and put on his harness; don't do it until he is completely calm.

Although your dachshund dog does not usually run, given that his legs are very short, he does need a good deal of physical exercise. Go for a walk at least three times a day and let him socialize with other dogs along the way, this will be very good for his physical and mental balance.

 

How to bathe your dachshund dog
