Homemade dog food: the best recipes for your dog to lick their paws clean
We know that your dog is a very important member of your family, so you want to take care of their diet just as you do for the rest of your family. That's why today we bring you some delicious cookie recipes for your dog to enjoy.
On the internet, you can find a multitude of delicious recipes for dogs, or how to make homemade dog cookies. We have gathered some tips and brought you easy recipes for happy dogs.

Homemade recipes for dogs:
1. Dog Cake Recipe:
Ingredients:
- Two egg yolks
- Two egg whites
- Two tablespoons of sunflower oil
- One unsweetened natural yogurt
- 200 gr of grated carrots
- 200 gr of flour, wheat or oat
- 1 sachet of baking powder for desserts
Preparation:
First, mix the egg yolks with the oil in a bowl. Once well beaten, add the yogurt, carrots, and flour with the baking powder.
After mixing everything, beat the egg whites until stiff and incorporate them gently, adding a pinch of salt.
Then, for baking, place the mixture in a cake pan greased with a little sunflower oil (olive oil is too strong and can upset your dog's stomach). Cook for 15-20 minutes at 200ºC until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
You can use this dog cake recipe to celebrate your dog's birthday or as an occasional treat. It is important, however, not to overdo the quantity you give them. A small portion will be enough. You can always cut it into small pieces, like reward treats.
2. Oatmeal cookie recipe for dogs
Ingredients:
- Two cups of all-purpose or whole wheat flour
- 100 gr of oats
- 50gr of butter
- Vanilla extract
- Zest of one lemon
Preparation:
Mix all the ingredients and knead until you get a homogeneous dough. The idea is to divide the obtained mixture into five parts and separate four of them into bags to store in the freezer for later.
With your hands, shape the dog cookies into whatever form you like; if you use a cookie cutter, they will come out better and all the same. Prepare the baking sheet with parchment paper. Preheat it to 200 ºC. Put them in, and in about 10-12 minutes, they will be ready.

3. Dog cookies recipe with meat
Do you have leftovers from a chicken or meat stew? Save them to make some delicious cookies for your dog.
The ingredients are the same as the previous recipe, plus 100 gr more flour and one egg. You also need to add half a cup of hot water. Mix everything well in a bowl and shape the dough, just like in the previous recipe, then put the dough in the oven and bake for about 15 or 20 minutes (depending on the thickness). Watch them so they don't burn; they will brown faster because they contain egg.
4. Homemade dog cookies in the microwave
With the microwave, you can cook delicious dog cookies quickly, cheaply, and healthily.
Ingredients:
- 100 grams of all-purpose or whole wheat flour
- 100 grams of rolled oats
- 200 grams of chicken or beef
- 1 egg
Preparation:
First, mix the meat with the egg in a bowl. Once you have formed a paste, add the oats and flour, continue stirring to avoid lumps. Mold as in the previous recipes and put them in the microwave; silicone containers are the best. To make them juicier and prevent them from losing too much moisture, it is better to insert them covered. At maximum power, cook for 5-6 minutes and, if necessary, extend the cooking time a few more minutes.
Finally:
You can decorate your dog cake with a little cream cheese, preferably light and sugar-free (first consider if dairy products and their derivatives might harm your dog). Never decorate it with chocolate, as it is very harmful to dogs due to the amount of sugar it contains.
To store the homemade dog cookies: you can keep them in a container in the fridge, where they will last a couple of weeks, or in a tin or airtight jar outside the fridge, but consume them within a week.
