Dog ice creams are a good way to stimulate their appetite in summer

When summer heat arrives, the best way to appease it is with a refreshing ice cream. Our dogs also like ice cream, so we reveal 5 of the best homemade dog ice cream recipes.

The tastiest and most popular ones are usually made with milk and fruits, preferably lactose-free milk, to cover all food intolerances.

Healthy and tasty dog ice cream recipes

Here are 5 tasty and simple recipes for dog ice cream that you can easily make at home. For all of them, you will need a large bowl to mix all the ingredients well, a blender, and a large ice cube tray. If the cubes aren't very large, you can use empty yogurt cups and use wooden sticks to make it easier to give them.

Let's get to the dog ice cream recipes

1. Yogurt and peach ice cream

Ingredients:

  •       1 large peach
  •       1 lactose-free, sugar-free, and preferably 0% fat yogurt. A plant-based yogurt can also work; rice milk is usually best digested.
  •       A teaspoon of honey, optional

Preparation:

Peel the peach well, cut it into small cubes, and put them in the bowl, reserving a few pieces. Add the yogurt and mix well with the blender. If you want to add some sweetness, add the teaspoon of honey.

Fill the ice cube molds with the mixture, add the pieces you reserved earlier, and put it in the freezer for 8 hours. When you take it out, you'll have a ready-made delicious and healthy treat for your dog, they will love it!

2. Apple and carrot ice cream:

Ingredients:

  •       Two green apples and two carrots
  •       One glass of lactose-free milk
  •       A little cinnamon

Preparation:

Peel the apples and carrots well and cut them into pieces. Put them in the blender with the milk and blend everything well. If you want, you can add a little cinnamon for more flavor. Pour everything into the molds and put them in the freezer. This ice cream is also suitable for us, so if you dare to try it, you'll love it.

3. Apple juice with fruit ice cream:

The best thing about this homemade dog ice cream is that it's made quickly and easily, and the apple provides beneficial vitamins and antioxidants for our dog's health.

Ingredients:

  •       One glass of unsweetened apple juice. If you have a juicer, you can juice some apples to make it even more natural.
  •       A handful of blueberries
  •       1 slice of seedless watermelon
  •       Half a banana

Preparation:

Pour the blueberries, watermelon, and banana into a bowl and mash them with a fork. In this case, we won't use a blender because we want a different texture. Now add the apple juice and mix well until it forms a homogeneous paste. If it's too thick, add a little water and pour it into the molds and freeze.

This ice cream is a hit with dogs, because of its flavor and because it refreshes them more than milk-based ones, and they are also very healthy and you can give it to them as many times as you like.

4. Watermelon sorbet for dogs

This recipe is the easiest and simplest of all the dog ice cream recipes we suggest.

Ingredients:

  •       Half a watermelon

Preparation:

Cut the watermelon into pieces and remove the seeds, blend it with a blender, and pour the mixture into the mold. Put it in the freezer, and in about 5 hours, your ice cream will be ready.

5. Tutti frutti ice cream for dogs

This ice cream is the most complete on this list, and it's rich in fiber and vitamins due to all the fruits it contains:

Ingredients:

  •       Banana
  •       10 strawberries
  •       1 pear
  •       1 slice of watermelon
  •       2 slices of melon
  •       1 handful of raspberries
  •       1 apple
  •       1 lactose-free, sugar-free, 0% fat yogurt

Preparation:

First, remove all the leaves, skins, and seeds from all the fruits, watermelon, and melon also well cleaned.

Cut the fruit into small pieces and put it in the blender along with the yogurt.

Blend until everything is well homogenous. If you want it a little more liquid, add some water or more watermelon.

Pour into molds and freeze.

You can use all these ice creams to give them as a treat to your dog or to put them in durable toys with holes so they can entertain themselves while eating their favorite ice creams.

Important: Do not give the ice cream to your dog directly from the freezer. Give it to them a few minutes later, as the cold could cause injuries to their tongue and mouth. Find a quiet place where they can eat it and let them enjoy themselves for a good while.
